To help you get started, the Council has prepared a Welcome Pack for you. In this Welcome Pack, you will find the following information

To help you understand your new role as a Councillor, the Council has compiled the

There are a few training courses you can join that are run by various Associations of Local
Councils such as HALC (Hampshire Association of Local Councils) and NALC (National
Association of Local Councils).
The Council recommends that you, as a new Councillor, join an induction training :
Knowledge & Core Skills. This course is run by HALC and you will be invited to join the next
available training course.
There are many ways for you to get involved. You can join one or more Committees within
the Council to share your experience and to contribute to the workings of these
Committees. Currently, the Council has the following Committees:
- Finance & General Purposes Committee
- Environment Committee
- Staff Committee
- NDP / Planning Committee
The Council also has a representation on Outside Bodies such as:
- Acland Hall Committee
- Berkshire Association of Local Councils
- Thatcham Flood Forum
- District Parish Conference
CAPC is currently producing a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) which will affect how development is carried out in the Parish. It is important that as a new Councillor you have an understanding of the NDP. You can find out more information by visiting this link.
