Remembrance Day 2020

War Memorial. St. Marks Church. Remembrance Day 2020

Unfortunately there could not be a Remembrance Day Parade this year due to the Coronavirus situation. There was however a socially distanced service outside St. Mark’s church to mark the event.

The service was led by Revd Dr Simon Thorn and was witnessed by a number of Parishioners. Richard Avens read the names of the fallen and Councillor Richard Marsh laid a wreath on behalf of Parishioners.

The newly refurbished War Memorial was centre stage and was blessed in the service.

The service was recorded by Revd Thorn and is available on the Hermitage Team of Churches YouTube page. The video ends with a tour of local war memorials. See below:

Many thanks to Revd Thorn for the excellent service.

We also thank the Cold Ash Parish War Memorial Restoration & Preservation Action Group for the fundraising and work to restore the War Memorial. The memorial looks fantastic and we encourage you to take a look the next time you are passing. We hope to have an article about the restoration soon.
